🌱 KDC Tawuya Update: Tawuya’s Rice Adventure 🌱

I have a sneaky suspicion that somewhere along the line I may have given you all the wrong impression about the farming process. Thankfully, Tawuya — with their ever-enthusiastic Deputy Head Teacher, Mr. Kebe — is here to set me straight!

Their process is similar to Robat’s, but with its own unique flair. First, they use the school grounds as a nursery, where the rice seeds are lovingly cared for until they sprout into lush green seedlings. Then comes the weed killer and the clever trick of turning the soil, letting the grass rot away to enrich the ground before transplanting. Timing, of course, is everything — the seedlings must move just before the rains (though don’t quote me, I still defer to the experts!).

Now, here’s where it gets both inspiring and endearing: armed with nothing but their petite hoes, the children tackle this enormous task with energy and determination that puts many of us adults to shame. Watching them prepare for transplanting is like watching a small army of hopeful gardeners, every swing of the hoe filled with purpose.

And the seedlings? They are a lush, green promise of what’s to come — a picture of growth, teamwork, and possibility. The real challenge lies ahead with the transplanting into the rice fields… but if anyone can rise to the occasion, it’s this spirited team.
