🥬🍌 The school garden 🥦🌽

While I’ve been busy gallivanting around, the schools have been quietly plotting ways to keep me on my toes — and let me tell you, their “homework” is piling up fast.

The big news: we’ve welcomed a new member into the fold — KDC Bana-konta in Kenema. They haven’t launched their farming project yet (it’s still “coming soon” — like that movie trailer you’ve been waiting on forever), but in the meantime, they’ve gone full throttle on building their school garden.

The genius twist? Students were asked to bring in seeds for planting, and gardening time is now officially part of the curriculum. Imagine that — homework that actually grows into dinner! Every student has their hands in the soil, quite literally.

Not to be outdone, Mr. Sulaiman of KDC Kychom heard about this and decided to level up. He introduced gardening time into his own school’s timetable and sparked a friendly competition between classes. The result? A garden so abundant, I’m fairly certain that if I ever turn up in Kychom unannounced, I won’t starve. Between the sweetcorn, bananas, and who knows what else, I might just need to bring a shopping bag instead of a notebook.
